I was raised in the Napa Valley in the 40's and 50's, the
youngest of five girls in a family that encouraged appreciation
for the beauty of the world around us. Crayons and paper were
ever present when we were young and four of us graduated on to
oils, watercolors, or poetry.

When the demands of being a working wife and mother of two cut
into my painting time, I turned to photography , always vowing
to use my photographs as material for my oil paintings, ....
"when I got the time". In 1999, Bill and I retired and moved to
Lake County. Now I had "the time", but soon found that my
photography had taken on a life of it’s own. I began combining
computer skills learned at my profession with digital
photography and found the creative outlet I craved. With digital
photography, a computer is a "magic" dark room in a box! I no
longer need all that room, just a camera, a computer and my
"eye"! We do a lot of traveling and a camera is a lot easier to
pack around than an easel and paints!

Napa Valley always inspired me when we lived there, no matter
what the season, it was always beautiful! Even now, I never fail
to find something to capture with my camera when we visit.

Lake County has also provided rich and nourishing fodder for my
camera. I never go out of the house without it, because the day
I do, I might miss that perfect shot of a great white egret, a
grey heron, two hundred white pelicans in flight or a beautiful
rainbow!

Someday I might take up my brushes again but until then,
YOU MAY BE IN MY
CAMERA!!

Hi again! Once more the year has come to an end and we are
forced to look back and wonder where the %#%# it went to and
how it got away so quick!
For us, it was a relatively good year! Some good luck ..some bad,
but all in all, a keeper!
One thing I have to share with everyone is the fact that we made
some wine in 2007 from a micro-vineyard in our back yard.
Cabernet and French Colombard. I know...
FRENCH COLOMBARD???
But they are both quite good! In fact, we took "Best of Show"
for White wines in the Kelseyville Home wine makers contest in
July. A surprise for all of us!
For reasons to lengthly to share here, our label is "Screeching
Peacock" and I wanted to share with you our mascot and star of
our label, as drawn by my sister Fran Young.
